As many people will have seen on the news over the past few years, HMRC are under extreme pressure to increase the amount of tax that they collect.  In order to do this they increased the number of investigations being carried out from 119,000 in 2011-12 to 237,215 in 2012-13 and there is no suggestion that it will stop there.  Investigations can be a long, drawn out, costly affair and can hit anyone, no matter how large or small their accounts or tax return are.  That is why we at DH Accounting offer our clients the chance to insure against some of the costs involved in investigations by offering Fee Protection Insurance.
